Interim Cheshire Sustainable Community Strategy: Consultation

As Chairs of the Communities of Cheshire Partnership and the Cheshire Governance Board, thank you all for your contributions to the recent consultation exercise to produce an interim Sustainable Community Strategy for Cheshire. The new Strategy performs the task of stating why the service delivery priorities outlined in the new Local Area Agreement (LAA) are important to Cheshire and the Communities of Cheshire Partnership as our "story of place".

However, the Strategy neither provides the long-term vision for the sub-region nor describes how that vision will be achieved. The new unitary authorites for Cheshire ('Cheshire East' and 'Cheshire West and Chester' authorities come into effect on 1st April 2009) and their strategic partners will be responsible for that task. Important work to develop draft new sustainable community strategies for the new sub-regions has commenced and further consultation and discussion will take place over the coming months to help develop those new "visions". Your further contributions will be necessary and would be welcomed once more.
